To me, work ethic means making good choices for your
team and your organization, and seeing those choices
through. It's recognizing that there is no "winning"
work or business. As Simon Sinek posits in The Infinite
Game, the goal is to keep playing the game as long as
possible. yes, you can jockey for position and play the
game better than others, but there is no finish line.
The time on the clock doesn't expire. That means, with
the time you give your work, be sure it's dedicated to
what really matters. Do those things and do them as
well as you possibly can; but then at the end of the
day, shut it down and go home. Be with yourself, your
friends, your pets, your family. Feed your passions.
Rest
There will always be more work. There will always be
more email. you cannot do your best without being
dedicated to your own needs and emotional/digital/
spiritual hygiene. Breaking the cycle is not impossible,
and I would be honored to help you begin that work.
