USICERINKS.COM NOVEMBER.DECEMBER.2023 / 33 Days 9-11 Following the acrylic install, some of our team broke off to finish details around the rink while the rest of us began the process of shaving down to the sand, removing as much ice as we possible could to build a new sheet. Day 4 The team here is working on installing the new boards. Once it was evaluated if new concrete anchors were needed and put in place or the existing ones could be used, the team would first attach the bottom connector bolt between the two panels allowing the group ahead of them to measure the next panel. Meanwhile the current panel was being anchored into the floor anchors and the remaining side bolts. During this process the boards were also leveled in height while also ensuring the facing on the rink side was flush to not allow any point that a puck might take a funny bounce. Day 12 After almost two weeks, the Avalanche took the ice at 10 a.m. in a brand-new rink. In doing so, we were upgrading the expe- rience for not only the Avalanche but also our entire customer base. Day 5 Once the boards were installed, the team moved onto installing the acrylic shielding. This new system features all acrylic shielding with a soft cap rail, flex/ spring loaded track and curved glass at the benches to provide the utmost safety for every skater that will take the ice in the future.
