48 / NOVEMBER.DECEMBER.2023 USICERINKS.COM u.s. ice rink NEWS Updates from the U.S. Ice Rink Association 2023 Regional Training Program Recap November wraps up another successful Regional Train- ing Program season with 321 students taking part in 15 classes offered in 10 states. We congratulate the 47 individuals who completed their profes- sional designations this summer and fall along with the 27 members that completed theirs at NARCE this past June! A sincere thank you to all facilities that hosted this year and a special thank you to our instructors that took part! Supporting Regional Rink Management Associations U.S. Ice Rink staff and in- structors travelled to Cohas- set, MN in early September to participate in the Minnesota Ice Arena Managers Associa- tion (MIA MA) annual Fall Conference as a sponsor, exhibitor and education provider. U.S. Ice Rinks held an Operations and Risk Management course in addition to Programming, Market- ing, and Promotions at this four-day conference. In October, U.S. Ice Rinks participated in the Wisconsin Ice Arena Management Association (WIAMA) Fall Fire Up event held in Milwaukee at the Pettit National Ice Center. We would like to thank the MIA MA, W IA MA, NEISMA (Northeast Ice Skating Managers Association), and R MR A (Rocky Mountain Rink Association) board of directors and membership for the opportunity to support and participate in their 2023 events! A Look Ahead to 2024 Regional Training Program Locations By mid-December, all facility members' primary point of contact will be emailed a bid-to-host link that will detail requirements for each of our six core courses along with desired dates for each. After review of applications and a vetting process, selected lo- cations will then be contacted and a final calendar will be made available to our members no later than April 15th. CIT Professional Designation Maintenance Criteria CIT's must maintain an annual member- ship (Individual, Facility or Vendor) with the United States Ice Rink Association to keep their professional designation valid. CIT's are required to complete and pass a recertification exam every five years from the year their professional designation was originally achieved. Effective January 2023, any CIT that has allowed their certifica- tion to lapse more than five years will no longer be eligible to take the recertification exam and would need to repeat all three courses. Online exams schedule for 2024 can be found online at usicerinks.com under the Education tab.
