When Gloria and I arrived in Tulsa,
Okla., in January 1967,
we drove
through the campus of Oral Roberts
University. Kellie was 3 years old, and
John was a little over a year old. Kellie
said, "OH, DADDY, JESUS LIVES HERE!"
The campus was beautiful, and it still
is. I, however, had a lot on my mind.
Mainly, we had no money! And I had
$24,000 in bad debt that had
accumulated over a long period of
time. It was warring against my mind
something terrible.
Gloria and I had been married only
four years. We both accepted Jesus six
months after we married in April 1962,
and both received the infilling of the
Holy Spirit in January 1963. We were
scriptural illiterates, but we knew we
were saved, and we both spoke in
tongues and loved it. But what about
all that debt? The night before I was
to register, I was almost sick with
worry about it. I said, "Gloria, I'm going
into the bedroom and pray all night
long if I have to!" I was on my face
praying when, suddenly, I heard The
LORD say in my spirit: STAND UP ON
Dear Partner,
YOUR FEET! I sent you here. I will take
care of you here.Your ministry begins
now! They can't make a minister out
of you. I have already made you a
minister. All they can do is train you.
When I came out, Gloria said, "What
happened to all night long?" I then
told her what The LORD had said.
The next morning, it began. The LORD
provided a little more than enough to
take care of the first quarter of my
tuition. Not only that, but I became
co-pilot on the Oral Roberts
Evangelistic Association's airplane.
Then, The LORD introduced Gloria and
me to Kenneth E. Hagin's ministry. By
November 1967, we were completely
debt free! How? By faith!
Remember now, Isaiah 53 is Jesus on
the cross. Isaiah 54 is to the Church.
It begins with, "Fear not"!
4 FEAR NOT; FOR THOU SHALT NOT
BE ASHAMED: NEITHER BE THOU
CONFOUNDED; FOR THOU SHALT NOT
BE PUT TO SHAME: FOR THOU SHALT
FORGET THE SHAME OF THY YOUTH,
AND SHALT NOT REMEMBER THE
REPROACH OF THY WIDOWHOOD
ANY MORE.
Now let's turn to verse 5: "For thy
Maker is thine husband; The LORD of
