Growing All Ice Sports
While speedskating may be the unique
draw at Pettit, the interest in growing all
sports is priority No. 1.
The facility, which is also home to the
Milwaukee Jr Admirals, Wisconsin Figure
Skating Club, Metro Women's Hockey
and Elmbrook Hockey, among others,
offers public skates and skating schools to
introduce kids to ice sports.
"We have a program called Schools on Ice
where we bring in 400 to 500 students who
might not normally have the opportunity to
get on the ice for five weeks of instructional
sessions with them at no cost to the school
or children so they learn to skate," said
Golomski. "Pettit tries to be welcoming to
all ice sports. If there's an ice sport in exis-
tence, we want to be a part of it."
"Our tagline is gold medal excellence,
community well-being. This facility is
open to anyone in the community. We
have programs geared towards all ages and
abilities and we want to have as large of a
community impact as we can have." J
