VENDOR News Updates from U.S. Ice Rink Association Vendor Members PHOTOS: COURTESY OF EVERYTHING ICE, CDI 36 / JANUARY.FEBRUARY.2024 USICERINKS.COM IN MEMORIAM John Burley Left a Lasting Legacy On December 29, 2023, tragedy struck the ice rink industry and the lives surrounding John Burley, owner of Everything Ice, Inc. as news of his passing was announced. Everything Ice is a Johnstown, Pennsylvania-based ice rink construc- tion company established by John Burley after his and his father's previous company, Burley's Rink Supply, changed ownership. John's legacy in the industry spanned over 40 years with thousands of ice rink projects across the globe. Recently, John acquired Magic Ice USA, a rental company that provides outdoor recreational ice rinks. John was a pioneer for all those in the busi- ness and had an unmatched knowledge of anything relating to an ice rink and its surroundings. He was often the first phone call when someone was expe- riencing a mechanical issue at their rink or when discussing building a new facility. John told everyone he was avail- able 24/7 and was known to answer his phone at 2 a.m. John was truly an expert and friend to many. Everything Ice and Magic Ice will continue to operate as known. Climate by Design International (CDI) Unveils State-of-the-Art Corporate Headquarters in Owatonna's Industrial Park Minnesota-based Climate by Design International (CDI) proudly announces the completion and relocation to its new 212,700-square-foot corporate head- quarters in Owatonna's Industrial Park, marking a significant milestone in the company's expansion strategy. The $37 million project, a collaborative effort with local subcontractors and suppliers, show- cases CDI's commitment to innovation, efficiency, and employee well-being. The Opus Group, a renowned construction company, commenced work on the state-of-the-art facility in August 2022. The facility seamlessly integrates office, manufacturing, and distribution spaces, demonstrating CDI's dedication to providing cutting-edge solutions for diverse markets. The spacious headquar- ters also includes employee amenities, reflecting CDI's focus on creating an optimal work environment. CDI Marketing Coordinator, Tracy Seelhammer, who joined the company in 2022, emphasized the necessity of the move due to the previous work- space's limitations. "Our production and storage areas were spread out all over Owatonna, making it hard to meet our customers' important requirements," said Seelhammer. "Now, with everyone work- ing together in a single location, teams that used to be separated can collaborate easily. This means we can make high- quality products more efficiently, ensuring customer satisfaction for the long term." The new headquarters boasts a range of employee-centric features, including a fitness room with lockers and showers, a prayer room, bicycle storage for envi- ronmentally conscious commuters, and a catering kitchen in a two-story cafete- ria featuring floor-to-ceiling windows. Outdoor spaces include a patio and a walk- ing path around the property, contributing to a holistic work-life balance. CDI, a leader in designing and manufac- turing custom desiccant dehumidifiers and critical process air handlers, serves various markets such as lithium battery manufac- turing, food processing, ice arenas, waste- water treatment plants, pharmaceuticals, automotive, rental, healthcare, aviation, and other niche markets requiring dry air climates. With a focus on providing solu- tions for facilities and mobile temporary applications, CDI has specialized in apply- ing Desiccant Dehumidifiers to Ice Arenas for over 25 years. The completion of the new corporate headquarters signifies CDI's commit- ment to growth, innovation, and contin- ued excellence in serving its diverse customer base.
