Goons 4 Good uses hockey to raise money for worthy Minnesota causes IT STARTED OUT as a couple of small business owners getting together for an informal adult league hockey tournament called The SotaStick Classic in 2018. The tournament, with an elevated volume of interested sponsors, quickly evolved into ways it could be utilized to bring in money for The Hendrickson Foundation—a Richfield-based organization focused on disabled hockey. With a high level of interest, The SotaStick Classic returned in 2019 with more money raised for The Hendrickson Foundation. Thus, the Goons 4 Good idea was born. "It was encouraging to see and hear how many more people were interested in just playing hockey in a fun and different environ- ment with the ability to help out a charity or foundation," explained co-founder Landon Johnson, who along with Jesse Bentrup and Scott Swanson brought Goons 4 Good fully to life in 2021. "It was just a great way to utilize hockey for something good in the community." b y J E S S I P I E R C E Photo / Goons 4 Good M H J ON L I N E . C O M | M A R C H 2 0 2 4 26 The Good Good Guys
