"I think that mindset and the personality that Brock has, that's allowed him to get better as this year's gone on and to be able to rebound from some tough situations but also more often than not be a real positive impact and be real consistent in the role that he's playing." —Head Coach John Hynes M A R C H 2 0 2 4 | M H J ON L I N E . C O M 29 Photos / Mark Blinch, John Russell, Mike Stobe/NHLI via Getty Images allegiance has always been with the Wild ever since he grew up in Maple Grove with his parents, Karri and Jay, and sis- ters, Paige and Pay ton. ROOKIE REVELATION Even as a Kings prospect, Faber once attended a Wild game against the Ottawa Senators, sat along the glass behind the net with a few Gophers teammates and famous- ly—thanks to a snapshot—ecstatically cele- brated a Kirill Kaprizov overtime winner while he wore a Minnesota sweatshirt. Now, Kaprizov shares a locker room and that same sheet of ice with the Wild superstar. Not only that, after captaining his Gophers to the NCA A championship game a year ago and making his NHL debut last season by playing two regular-season games and six playoff games for the Wild and not even being on the ice for a goal- against, Faber has been so good this sea- son, he's deep in the running for the Calder Trophy (Rookie of the Year). At press time, Faber led all rookies and Wild players in average ice time (25 min- utes, 9 seconds a game), led all rookies with 29 assists and was second in scoring with 33 points. That was tops amongst rookie defensemen. Faber has been such a revelation for the Wild, he has largely kept the team afloat P R E S E N T E D B Y Faber takes on Islanders captain and Edina native Anders Lee.
