All Certified Ice Tech- nicians (CIT) expiring in 2024 must complete a CIT Recertifica- tion (CITR) exam by the end of the year to remain current. Beginning in April, online exams will be posted through the end of the year that will provide the opportunity for CIT's to self-study and write the CITR exam utilizing an online proctor. Those seeking CIT recertification must maintain an annual membership (Indi- vidual, Facility, or Vendor) with the United States Ice Rink Association to keep their professional certification valid. Any CIT that has allowed their certification to lapse more than 5 years will no longer be eligible to take the recertification exam and would need to repeat all three courses. Early 2024 Events Keep U.S. Ice Rink Association Staff and Volunteers Busy John Monteleone, Director, Education served as ice techni- cian for the 2024 Prevagen U.S. Figure Skating Championships held at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH along with Barb Bogner, CIRM, Rich Newberg, CIRM, and Jessica Miller, CIRM. Monteleone also took part in the 2024 U.S. Synchronized Skating Champions, along with Kevin Wood, CIRM in Las Vegas, NV held February 21–24. Monteleone and Bill Anderson, CIRM, spearheaded ice tech efforts at the 2024 Eastern Synchronized Skating Sections held in Durham, NH, while Linda Alexander, CIRM, and Jack Schultz, CIT worked the 2024 Midwestern Synchronized Skating Championships in Wichita, KS. 2024 Regional Training Program Locations Coming Soon The 2024 Regional Training Program locations will be available by April 15 on usicerinks.com.
