40 THE WOLVERINE ❱ MAY 2024 I traveled across the country in March and saw several Michigan recruits at campus and in seven-on-seven tour- naments. Here is a look at the five best Michigan recruits based on their perfor- mances and not necessarily how I would rank them. 5. OL Ty Haywood, Denton (Texas) Ryan Haywood is ranked by On3 as the No. 3 offensive tackle and No. 11 overall prospect in the country for a reason. At 6-foot-5, 280 pounds, Haywood proj- ects as an elite right tackle in college. His size and brute strength were on full display in 1v1s at the Under Ar- mour Dallas camp. Haywood won the majority of his reps and also displayed good feet and balance for his size. His technique was a bit raw, but that means there is plenty of ceiling left. Michigan offered him during the winter contact period, but landing him will be ex- tremely difficult. 4. CB Chris Ewald, Miami Chami- nade-Madonna It would be fantastic to see Michigan find a way to get Ewald, a former commit, back in the class, but it seems unlikely. Ewald was excellent in man coverage throughout the Battle New Orleans tour- nament. He's a pure cover corner with elite technique and patience, which al- lows him to take away his side of the field. Ewald also made some plays on the ball, including an interception against Michigan 2027 quarterback prospect Trae Taylor. We'll see if U-M's new de- fensive backs coach LaMar Morgan can work some magic here. 3. ATH Keisean Henderson, Houston Legacy (2026) Henderson has been a superstar WR on the national seven-on-seven circuit this year. Rocking his signature Davy Crock- ett raccoon hat, Henderson has torn up opposing defenses with his elite combi- nation of size and speed. Henderson is an explosive athlete on the outside and could be a game changer for U-M's offense. It's no surprise that wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy is making him an early priority. Henderson is also a versatile recruit who plays quarterback and defensive back for his high school. 2. ATH Messiah Delhomme, Newport News (Va.) Warwick Speaking of versatile athletes, Del- homme is one of the most dangerous two-way players in the country. He was dominant at The Plex seven-on-seven tournament, scoring multiple touch- downs while lined up at wide receiver. In pads, Delhomme is also a dynamic playmaker at running back. Of course, schools are recruiting him as a safety. At the event, Delhomme had a couple of pass breakups and didn't let anything get behind him. He has a solid build at 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, and comes downhill in a hurry. Michigan remains in his top group. 1. WR CJ Sadler, Detroit Cass Tech (2026) Sadler is one of the country's most explosive athletes in the 2026 recruiting class. At 5-foot-9, 170 pounds, he is on the smaller side, but he makes up for it with elite speed and elusiveness in the open field. Sadler has the makings of a dynamite slot and Swiss Army knife at the next level. He made plenty of plays at Battle New ❱  MICHIGAN RECRUITING NOTEBOOK Five Best Recruits From The Road Detroit Cass Tech 2026 athlete CJ Sadler is listed as the No. 2 player in Michigan, and the No. 14 wide receiver and No. 103 overall prospect nation- ally in the On3 Industry Ranking.
