Chants of "Let's go Blue!" took over Centene Community Ice Center, and this time it was Michigan taking home a trophy. The victory marked the Wolverines' 1,800th in program history and 59th all time in the NCAA Tournament, and it clinched their third straight and NCAA-leading 28th Frozen Four appearance. Reaching the Frozen Four never gets old, and neither does beating Michigan State. "Obviously, it puts a pit in your stomach," senior defenseman and captain Jacob Truscott said of watching the Spartans celebrate the prior weekend. "But I think it's good to go through pain. It motivates us a lot, and we got to work that next week. As soon as we saw them on our schedule, the guys were pumped up, but they were just another team in our way. Proud of the guys for how they responded and how motivated they were to beat that team." "It always feels good to beat State, especially in that manner to end their season," sophomore forward Frank Nazar III added. "They're a great team; they had a great season, and they have a lot to be proud of. But we wanted it really badly, especially after losing in overtime." The Wolverines will take on top-ranked Boston College in the NCAA Frozen Four on Thursday, April 11. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2 at 8:30 p.m. Eastern, following the first semifinal matchup between No. 2 Boston University and No. 3 Denver. — Clayton Sayfie PHOTO COURTESY MICHIGAN PHOTOGRAPHY MAY 2024 ❱ THE WOLVERINE 7
