Page | 1 (Updated August 8, 2024) Hands-On Learning | Are You Up to the Task . . . Definitions? Question: What are task definitions and why would I want to use them? Answer: Task Definitions allow you to limit the menu choices for your RF users so they do not have to repetitively click menu options every single time when they would always be entering in the same values. In many instances, you can boil down a picking or put away function to just a single keystroke. This leads to more productivity and easier training for new employees. It can be especially helpful when you bring on temporary workers who you want to focus on specific picking or put away tasks. Handling them an RF scanner with just 1 or a few menu options to choose from can be much less confusing and get that new worker contributing much quicker. Imagine a scenario where you always have your pickers auto batch 5 one-line orders in their zone. Without task definitions, the user would need to go to "Orders Pick Pick Auto Batch One Line Orders Light Orders All Routes Order Count (5)" – but with task definitions, the user would just need a single key stroke. Launch the Web Browser 1) Create "Auto Batch One Line Orders" Task 2) Launch the web browser. 3) Log into the Latitude website. 4) Enter "USER01" for the User ID and change the branch to "SESSION1" and click the "Login" button. 5) Browse to "Main Menu Administration System Configuration Tasks Task Definitions" Create Auto Batch One Line Orders Task 1) Let's create a task definition that, when selected on the RF, will auto batch 3 one-line orders with no input from the user required other than selecting the menu option. 2) Without a task definition, traditional picking would require the user to perform the following steps on the RF, each being a keystroke. Orders Pick Pick Auto Batch One Line Orders Choose "Light" or "Heavy" All Routes Enter 3 for order count. 3) On the next screen click the "+" button and type "AUTO BATCH 3 ONE LINE ORDERS" into the Task: dropdown. 4) Click the "Type" drop down and choose "PICK AUTO BATCH". 5) Click "SAVE".
