Page | 9 (Updated August 8, 2024) Hands-On Learning | Shipshape Distribution with Latitude Manifest & Shipping System Best Way Rating LMS supports another feature called "Best Way Rating". You can think of this as automating the rate shop feature into a carrier code which will choose a rate from a list of carrier codes based on various criteria such as lowest rate, delivery date requirement, and weight. For this session, we have created a Best Way service called "RATEBW" which will select the service with the lowest rate automatically. Let's pull that up and go over the configuration options. 1) Launch the LMS Management Console by clicking this icon on your desktop. 2) Login with UserID "USER05" and a blank password. 3) In the left pane, expand "Carrier Components" and then click on "Custom Service Definitions". Next, expand "Custom" and click on "Services". This is a list of the currently configured Custom Services in LMS. For this session, we only have one – but you can define as many as you would like. 4) Double-click on "RATEBW" to pull up the configuration screen. Let's go over the fields in the above "Properties" tab that are applicable to the "RATEBW" service. Custom Service – This is the service code you want to assign to the service. It has a maximum of 6 characters. Carrier & Carrier Service – This defines the default Carrier and Service to use for this custom service definition. This may be overridden by other functions of the custom service, in this case a lower rate. The other options in the above screen allow you to set defaults for when this custom service is used. For this session we are not using those. We will not be using the "Service Options" tab or the "Addresses" tab, but those allow you to default shipment options such as delivery confirmation options. The addresses tab allows you to override the importer/exporter of record, often used when configuring a freight forwarder. For this custom service, we will be utilizing the options in the "Best Way" tab. Click that and you will see this screen.
