Learn the basics of preparing a layered the sWeetest eVent eVer Attendees and competitors celebrate art in sugar Located in the Hobbies and Craft Building, the Sugar Art Show provides decorators the opportunity to test their skills an share their talent with the public. Organizers have added several new categories this year with great prizes. Saturday, Sept. 4 is Sugar Art Day with free cake demonstrations as well as the opportunity to take hands-on classes from three prestigious judges. A Mystery Cake Challenge has also been added. Everyone is welcome to enter this competition with the three finalists competing in the mystery challenge for $200 cash and prizes. This will be similar to the competitions you see on the food networks. At 7:30 p.m. winners will be announced and awards presented in all categories of the Sugar Art Show and Mystery Cake Challenge (located at the Sugar Art exhibit area). Divisions include Junior, Teen, Adult Beginner, Adult Intermediate and Professional. Categories range from Best in Show to People’s Choice and other categories dealing with specific types of cakes. At 7:30 p.m. winners will be announced and awards presented in all categories of the Sugar Art Show and Mystery Cake Challenge. Don’t miss the opportunity to take hands-on classes taught by three prestigious judges: Amelia Carvine from Logan, Utah, Greg Marsh form Boise, Idaho and Naomi Stockton from Jackson Hole, Wyo. Slated for 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4, The Sugar Art Show’s mystery cake challenge is open to everyone 18 years and older. The contest will consist of three challenges. All entered contestants will participate in Challenge 1—a short skills contest in which six winning contestants will be chosen to move on to compete in Challenge 2.
