WhAt’s neW Much of the charm of a community fair—especially a century-plus-old extrav- aganza like this one—is the traditions that go along with it. But along with long-standing features and events, there are always a few changes as well. Here’s a few to prep you for the 2010 festivities: • Both community free stages have moved to increase seating • New online ticket ordering systems, markets more convenience to choose your own seats, and print from home • Team Penning/Branding/& Sorting IS FREE, held on 9/7 at 8:00 am in the grandstand • Horse Pulling is free; this will be 9/8 at 1:00 pm in the grandstand • New concessionaires for 2010: Chopping Block (Mongolian Food), Dinky Donuts and Buck Snort (Home Brew Root Beer) rides to school Butler Amusement and the Eastern Idaho State Fair are gearing up to offer six $1,000 scholarships to 4-H and FFA students in good standing who will graduate in 2011. The following students received the scholarships for 2010: kiara Wanner from Preston paige Wray from Shelley elizabeth hassing from Idaho Falls shalissa hamilton from Blackfoot Ashley k. Andersen from American Falls Amanda swindell from Challis. Scholarships are based on participation in either a 4-H Club or FFA Chapter, personal and professional goals, student activities, community service, honors and awards, and financial need. Congratulations to all those seniors who sent applications and best wishes for the future. For next year’s program, the fair’s Scholarship Committee invites graduating seniors of 2011 to apply next March.
