mAnAGer’s minute Welcome to the Eastern Idaho State Fair A proud tradition for 108 years and Eastern Idaho’s largest annual event, the Eastern Idaho State Fair is undoubtedly the place for food, family and fun! This year’s fair theme “Rock Around the Stock” is a cel- ebration of our agricultural heritage, which is showcased every year at the EISF. For those who raise the stock—we salute you! Under the direction of the Fair Board of Directors, significant capital improvements have been made to make the fair even more inviting to all fairgoers. Those improvements include additional paved walking paths, renovated restrooms, improved lighting, and a lot of fresh paint! We have also re-positioned both Free Community Stages so more people can enjoy the outstanding entertainment only found at the fair. A majority of this year’s Fair will be smoke-free, with the exception of two designated smoking areas. Smoking will only be permitted in the pari-mutuel betting areas and beer gardens. Smoking was already prohibited in the grandstands, tents, commercial buildings, and livestock barns and shelters. Limiting exposure to secondhand smoke will make attending the Fair a more enjoyable atmosphere for everyone. We have made buying nighttime entertainment tickets as easy as ever, through an improved online ticket ordering system. This new system allows fairgoers to buy their tickets, choose their seats, and print their tickets—at home or at work—saving them from waiting in lines to purchase or pick up will-call tickets. The Eastern Idaho State Fair, in partnership with Butler Amusements, is pleased to again offer a scholarship fund for high school seniors in the FFA and 4-H programs to encourage these students to continue their education at an institute of higher learning. We are very fortu- nate to have a great partner in Butler Amusements who has generously donated funds to help us achieve this goal. We welcome our visitors young and old. The EISF is a giant community family reunion where thrilling entertainment, educational exhibits and outstanding fair food create unforgettable memories and experiences. J.
