OUT IN FRONT Justin Davis Secures The 2025 SCORE TT Spec Championship By Micah Anderson Photos by Get Some Photo From qualifying speed to race-day discipline, Justin Davis controlled the SCORE Trophy Truck Spec title run in Baja. According to Davis, it was consistency, preparation, and discipline that defined his 2025 season in the SCORE World Desert Championship. Driving the No. 285 Green Army Motorsports Truck, Davis finished four demanding races across Baja California, and the Championship title marked another milestone in a career that already included several SCORE World Championships titles earned in SCORE Lites and Class 1. At 32 years old, the Chino Hills, California, Davis closed the season with 502 points, two podium finishes, a SCORE Baja 500 victory, and a full season completed without penalties. Against an elite field of more than forty Trophy Truck Spec competitors, the Green Army team completed every mile of every race, totaling 1,992.31 miles of competition in Baja. Among the most engaging drivers to watch across all SCORE divisions, Davis has earned his reputation as one to watch, combining speed with control. A consistent front-runner in qualifying, he delivers performances that consistently keep fans and competitors focused on the colorful Green Army truck. That approach was on full display throughout the 2025 SCORE World Desert Championship. King Shocks 38th SCORE San Felipe 250 The season opened at the King Shocks 38th SCORE San Felipe 250, held in San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico. The race set the tone for the championship battle from the onset. Davis found himself in a three-way fight at the front of the Trophy Truck Spec class. The course demanded precision through deep whoops, rocks, and silt beds that punished small mistakes. With a brand new TSCO truck and a heavy right foot, Davis had the special formula to blast through the San Felipe desert at speed and finish the race well. The team’s focus on preparation, navigation, and clean execution worked for the Green Army to avoid penalties and mechanical issues. The approach paid off with a second-place class finish, placing Davis near the top of the standings at the start of the season. “We knew it was going to be tight,” Davis said. “Our goal was to put ourselves in position and finish strong.” BFGoodrich Tires 56th SCORE Baja 500 Momentum shifted in June at the BFGoodrich Tires 56th SCORE Baja 500, taking place in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. Davis delivered a controlled and methodical drive that resulted in a class victory. Qualifying near the front allowed the Green Army team to manage traffic early. As conditions changed with water crossings and muddy sections, the team adjusted its strategy to protect the truck and maintain pace. Efficient pit work and clear communication helped Davis build and manage a lead. “Consistency and minimal mistakes are the key to winning in Baja,” Davis said. “When others make mistakes, we are working to position ourselves to take advantage and not miss the opportunity. ” The win marked Davis’s second consecutive SCORE Baja 500 class victory, adding to his tally of four total, and established him as a championship favorite at the season’s midpoint in front of all divisions as the points leader. 6th SCORE Baja 400 The 6th SCORE Baja 400, held in September, presented another close contest between Trophy Truck Spec competitors. Once again, Davis found himself in a two-truck battle that lasted deep into the race. The course mixed high-speed sections with technical terrain that tested suspension setup and tire management. “Every race we base our setup on what we think the course terrain is going to be,” Justin shared. “We knew it was going to be tight and technical. The TSCO is light and nimble, and both the vehicle and course fit my driving style.” Davis balanced pace with restraint, allowing the truck to stay composed through changing conditions and avoiding unnecessary risks. He finished second in class, adding another podium and valuable points toward the championship. BFGoodrich Tires 58th SCORE Baja 1000 The season concluded at the BFGoodrich Tires 58th SCORE Baja 1000, the most demanding test of the year, even for a five-time Baja 1000 class winner. Davis was, once again, in a position to contend for the class win when engine issues emerged. The team was forced to stop roughly every 30 miles to add oil, costing valuable time. With approximately 50 miles remaining, transmission problems required a full swap before the team could continue. After completing a transmission swap, the Green Army crew sent Davis back onto the course. The team crossed the finish line 12th in class, completing every mile of the season. While the final result fell outside the podium, the ability to finish under adverse conditions preserved the consistency that ultimately defined Davis’s championship run. Preparation and Reliability Competing for a championship in 2025 came with an added variable. The No. 285 Green Army Motorsports Trophy Truck Spec was an all-new TSCO-built vehicle delivered to the team at the beginning of the season. With limited race data before the opening round, each event served as both a points opportunity and a chance to further develop the platform under race conditions. Throughout the season, the No. 285 demonstrated reliability across varied terrain, from high-speed desert sections to rocky and silty courses. The truck’s setup allowed Davis to push when needed and conserve equipment when conditions demanded restraint. Tires also played a key role, and Davis credited Toyo Tires for durability across all four races, noting the team completed the season without a single flat tire. Team and Support At the center of the Green Army effort is crew chief Kevin Davis, Justin’s father, whose leadership and preparation were critical throughout the year. Operating with a smaller team and limited resources compared to larger operations, Green Army relied on planning, teamwork, and volunteer support to stay competitive. Key partners supported the effort throughout the season, including King Shocks, Toyo Tires, Titan 7 Wheels, Maxima Oils, Rigid Industries, Buggy Whip, Lowrance, Hook and Cleaver Meats, and others who contributed to the team’s reliability and race-day execution. A Championship Built on Consistency At the end of the season, the Green Army Motorsports team proved that preparation and discipline remain decisive factors in SCORE competition. The 2025 title added another chapter to Justin Davis’s growing record in desert racing and reinforced the value of consistency in one of off-road racing’s most competitive classes.” SJ
