LARRY COMBEST larry Combest was raised in west texas on a farm that his family operated for four generations. he holds a b.b.a from west texas state university (now west texas a&m university). Combest was elected to Congress (R-tX) in 1985, where he served for 10 straight terms. Combest served as Chairman of the house intelligence Com- mittee in the 104th Congress and as Chairman of the house agriculture Committee in the 106th and 107th Congresses. he was the chief architect and negotiator on the 2002 Farm security and Rural investment act (the 2002 farm bill). MARY JO FRAZIER mary Jo Frazier is a Research support scientist at the university of idaho, Kimberly Research and extension Center. she’s worked on potato storage research for 28 years. NORA OLSEN nora olsen is an extension potato specialist and associate extension professor with the university of idaho. she is recognized for, among other areas of study, her expertise in storage management. nora holds a Ph.D. from washington state university and is stationed in twin Falls, idaho. BARB SHELLEY barb shelley is the Chief Commu- nications officer for the united Potato Growers of america, based in salt lake City, utah. barb earned two degrees in journalism and public relations with a minor in advertising. she has won national and regional awards for her communi- cations work. before joining the industry, barb worked in telecommunications. she is a member of the Public Relations society of america and the society for Professional Journalists. KATHLEEN TRIOU Kathleen triou (pronounced true) joined the usPb as Vice President, Domestic marketing in December 2008. triou brings consi- derable experience with her previous work on the usPb Retail Program and the Domestic marketing Committee as Director, Client management, with the Perishables Group. triou also served as an exe- cutive officer in the u.s. air Force for over four years and holds an mba from midwestern state university and a bs in business, miami university, ohio. 6 Potato Grower | SEPTEMBER 2010
