september WELCOME TO THE FALL ISSUE Dear Readers, Welcome to our 10th issue of Nature’s Best Photography Students! We’ve come a long way since we first launched the magazine in print over two years ago.The quality of your work just keeps getting better and I do not think I will ever run out of great articles to publish. From now on, each issue will include a few pages about photo editing and digital post-processing. In the digital age, what you do to the photo once it is back on your computer is almost as important as what you do in the field. We’ll help you find your way in the digital darkroom with columns on choosing software, creating a good workflow, and making basic adjustments to your images. We’ll also feature more advanced techniques, including High Dynamic Range (HDR) imaging. In this issue, Connor Stefanison and Jess Findlay share images from their camping trip in British Columbia, Canada and Johan Doornenbal talks tripods.Tyler Benjamin tells the story of fire’s importance in Northwestern Ohio and its roles in maintaining one of America’s most beautiful landscapes. At the end of the issue you will find an article on photo editing software byTimothy Brooks, our new digital guru.Send in your questions about photo editing and post- processing and Timothy will answer them. As always, if you have a story to share, email me at gabby@naturesbestphotography.com. Keep in touch and good luck in the field! —Gabby Salazar, Editor gabby@naturesbestphotography.com 1
