Hyde Mountain is the brain- child of Canadian Scotty Hyde, who dreamed of one day build- ing a golf course on his property in Sicamous, British Columbia. Hyde had lived on the land for decades, and even named his little house Logger's Lounge, as he would invite friends from the area to visit from time to time. "They'd drink, play music and have a good time," Bill Wilson, general manager of Hyde Mountain remembers. Logger's Lounge once even hosted the Irish Rovers, a long-running Canadian-Irish folk group created in 1963. Sadly, Hyde did not live to see the creation of Hyde Mountain. His son, Alan, was the one who got the ball rolling on the project in 1997, just a couple of years after the death of his father. The golf course was finally completed in 2002, and in honor of Scotty's original homestead, a restaurant named Logger's Lounge was completed just prior to the course opening. Hyde Mountain is located on the beautiful Mara Lake in British Columbia. The resort offers a complimentary shuttle service from their docks on the lake to the clubhouse and Logger's Lounge. Houseboaters are welcome to moor their boats on the shoreline beside the dock to enjoy the scenery and make the short journey to the clubhouse and restaurant.
