Photo by Julie Gamble Attempted break-in foiled when culprits find owner at home Two men tried to break into a residence on Chant Road near Toledo last Thursday but got a surprise when the homeowner was there. Leeds County OPP received a call around 10 a.m. after the two knocked on the door and, before the homeowner could respond, one man entered the home. He saw the home owner and ran. The home owner saw the two men running up the road to two separate vehicles. Nothing was taken. The OPP are currently looking for two males both aged 20 to 25. One suspect is described as around 5'10" with a thin build and light brown or blond hair. One of the vehicles was a grey full-sized panel van. There was no description of the other vehicle but it had a loud exhaust. Voters can get that resolved before election day, but they can still do it on Sept. 30. There was no estimate on how the new rules will affect the bottom line. "This whole system is very parallel to the county," said Holman. Each councilor also has the discretion to charge for two circumstances which do not fall within the first two criteria. "An elected member has to have some discretion. Things change and things pop up. Elected members should have the ability to exercise their own decisions," said Maddocks. The recommendations did not extend to changes to the mayor's compensation.
