Gathering had a successful first year in 2012 and was shortlisted for 'Best New Festival' and 'Best Metropolitan Festival'. It
returns to Oxford this Autumn for another full day of music.
Like most city festivals, Gathering is a one
day long and a multi-venue event. It's held
at seven intimate venues across Oxford and
lasts from 4pm until 2am. As a result, there's
not much time to do anything but see bands,
which is more of a welcome change from
certain festivals which have become bloated
with 'extras'. Gathering's emphasis is solely
on the music and achieves these aims of
providing great new artists. Headlined by
Local Natives and London Grammar, it will
also feature the amazing Waxahatchee, Mt.
Wolf and Temples, and over forty bands in
total. With only twenty four artists already
announced, many are yet to come. If you're
looking for a festival that is entirely about
the music and allows you to get close to the
musicians, Gathering is a great option.
