What's Inside Each Issue: PDB is a family boating publication that targets a specific niche, which of course is the type of people interested in pontoons and deck boats. But we are proud to live up to the claim of being the world's authority on both pontoon and deck boats because these two boats share the common link of being ideal family boats. That bond is the backbone of PDB. Captain's Chair: This is a special note from the editor where we evaluate trends within the industry and draw on our own experiences to connect with the readers. Better Boater: Here is where we offer tips for the new and experienced boater. We keep a good balance of projects and topics that appeal to a whole range of skill level. Whether it's backing your boat down the ramp or installing an aftermarket keel, we have the reader covered. Lifestyle Features: PDB Spotlight: Power Profile: Each month we select a specific topic and then round up several manufacturers that build boats that fit our description. This is our opportunity to show that there are several options available on the market. This is the closest way that we can come to direct comparison between manufacturers and we use it to educate our readers on the differences. Showing off people in our industry who live the lifestyle on a daily basis is one of the most important parts of our job. We know it's not about selling a boat; it's about selling a lifestyle. We take that very seriously and really dig into the specifics of what features on the boat attracted the family to that particular model. We balance the fun parts of being a boat owner with the technical information that our readers crave. Tackle Box: Sometimes the price of an engine is half the cost of the total boat package, which is one of the reasons this section is so critical. Just like boat manufacturers, engine companies are improving and adding new models all the time. We let our readers know what each engine manufacturers is working on and what they currently have available. No Wake Zone: PDB Adventures: This is a fishing feature that covers everything from tips to must-have products. This section attracts the anglers who have a constant need to keep up with what's going on. Our popular "catch all" section includes everything from industry news to new products from manufacturers. Online poll results, information on the next issue, forum recaps and our Find the Paddle game are all included within this section. These regular items are mixed in with new stories that include tidbits of information about new products, interesting facts and boating ideas and tips. 2 PDB 2014 Media Kit As we said before, our magazine is about lifestyle so we use PDB Adventures to capture our niche boats being used by everyday people in unique situations. This isn't necessarily about someone with a new boat, but about someone that has found a different way to enjoy their boat. This section allows us to highlight a broad range of uses for boats in a wide geographic area so we appeal to a mass audience across the US. Our spotlight features new products from the manufactures. These are the kind of stories that let readers know why they should want to buy a particular model. Time and time again, our readers have proven that they want to hear from us on what qualities make a boat worth buying. We do this by providing key specs to help the potential buyer with their decision. Roundups: PDB Tested: Anyone can take a press release and photo and run it in a magazine. We take it one step further. We physically test each product in house and then rate it. It takes some work, but we know our readers find it very valuable to know how the product performed on a pontoon or a deck boat. This section includes tools, gear, cleaning supplies, aftermarket products, etc. HARRIS PUBLISHING, INC. 360 B Street • Idaho Falls, ID 83402 208-524-7000 • Fax: 208-522-5241 www.pdbmagazine.com
