REGGAE / DANCE HALL 35 7 Issue 56 / 2013 GUESTLIST RECOMMENDS: CHRONIXX ALBUM OF THE MONTH: KONSHENS Konshens, born in 1985, has been around for a while. However he is now making a remarkable stamp on the Dancehall genre, with his music even featuring now on the game Grand Theft Auto V, a great achievement for any artist, but particularly one of this genre. Anyone who knows anything of the Reggae/Dancehall genre will have at least heard a Konshens song. He appeals to a vast amount of people with his versatility when it comes to this genre. He has collaborated with the likes of Tarrus Riley to create 'Good Girl Gone Bad' which appealed to older reggae listeners, while his song 'Gal A Bubble' appealed to the younger, more raunchy Bashment lovers , and his song 'Do Sumn' appeals to the Dancehall fans, with various dances being made to that song. Chronixx has been the talk of the town in and around Jamaica and across the general reggae music scene - this is why Guestlist recommends that if you haven't listened to his music, you do so ASAP! Chronixx, born in October 1992, was formerly known by the name 'Little Chronicle' as he was the junior to his father - the artist known as 'Chronicle.' He started out at a young age; 'Rice Grain' was his first song, written at aged only five years, and by eleven, he was the choir director and worship leader at his local church. Having grown up around the likes of Norris Brown and Gregory Isaacs - and, of course, his father - reggae music had huge influence. After being coached by Danny Brown, Chronixx recorded a song with him in 2003, and at the age of 16 he built and composed 'riddims' for the likes of Konshens, Popcaan and Munga. It is true to say that he has his heart in his music - as a listener, you can definitely hear the passion and the reality within it. As a twenty two year old singing about the subject of life to other people of his generation, he relates to the young audience, but his passion and voice reaches out and touches you regardless of your age and background. His music is also available to purchase on iTunes, so there is a broad avenue through which potential listeners to find him. To summarise: Guestlist recommends Chronixx a well worthy candidate. If you don't know, there is no better time to get to know! OUR PLAYLIST We present you with 4 of the hottest tracks and mixes out right now... SENA Too Late VIBRONICS FT. MADU Don't Judge Me HUGH MUNDELL Jah Fire Will Be Burning KING KONG & KING SHILOH Give It Up All in all, Konshens is a very good artist. Not many people are as versatile as him, whether you know or not, you have probably heard and know the lyrics to a Konshens song. There isn't a Dancehall rave mix CD that doesn't feature a snippet of his music. Even the adverts for these raves will include his catchy tunes. Guestlist brings you Konshens as the artist of the month, so check him out if you don't know who he is yet, you'll be surprised - you probably do know him.
