Purdue finally
got its first redzone chance since the Northern
Illinois game against the Hawkeyes and, though it took three
tries in a goal-to-go situation, it
got a touchdown to snap a twogame scoreless streak.
On third-and-goal from the
2, quarterback Danny Etling
lined up with three tight ends
and two backs in the I formation. Fullback Kurt Freytag ran
a route, making sure to chip a
defensive player first, and stumbled a bit. But Etling was able
to double-clutch, avoiding a
leaping Iowa defender, and
connect with Freytag for the
touchdown.
With a 21-7
lead,
Iowa
revved up their big O-line to

ers committed their only turnover to end a promising drive.
With a first-and-10 on Iowa's
37-yard line, Purdue lined up in
a one-back, two-tight end set
with tight end Justin Sinz acting
as the fullback. Raheem Mostert
got the handoff and hit the hole
quickly, sticking his foot in the
ground to push off and go. But
once he got through the hole,
Mostert got hit, and, despite
having two hands on the ball,
he fumbled.
Iowa answered with an
eight-play drive that went 71
yards in just under four minutes,
capped by a touchdown run.
