Brigham YoUng previewNov. 20, 2013 Hunting For An Upset here, that's like heresy," Call said. "They made some tweaks since that time with the way they run the passing game, and Taysom Hill has been extremely effective. He's extremely accurate." Hill, a sophomore, completed 65.9 percent of his passes against Boise State during the final week of October in his best performance to date. He threw three touchdown passes and ran for another in the 37-20 win. Increased accuracy has helped some of the Cougars' talented wide receivers get more involved in the fast-paced offense. An up-tempo offense boosts expectations for the Cougars Senior Cody Hoffman has more total receptions (241), receiving yards (3,382) and touchdown grabs (33) than any player in BYU history. He missed two games early in the season, but still leads the team with 38 catches for 664 yards and five scores. Fellow senior JD Falslev wasn't far behind. He had 24 catches for 257 yards after eight games, but will likely miss the rest of the regular season with a broken hand. Falslev suffered the injury while By Dan Murphy R obert Anae warned the BYU faithful that it might take a few weeks, months even, before the Cougars' offensive production caught up with its pace. Anae spent two seasons in Arizona, one coaching the linemen for head coach Rich Rodriguez's pedal to the metal attack, before returning to his post as BYU's offensive coordinator. He thought it could take a half of a season before his players could fully grasp the up-tempo approach he brought back with him. He was right, but they're rolling now. No team in the nation averages more plays per game than Brigham Young. The Cougars snap the ball an average of 86.8 times per contest. The offense was equally as active during a 2-2 start with losses to Virginia and Utah, but did not post the points or the yards to match. BYU averaged 38.2 points while winning five of its next six games to up its record to 7-3 before making the trip to South Bend. Jeff Call, who covers BYU for the Deseret News, said a 31-14 win over in-state rival Utah State Oct. 4 was the turning point for Anae's offense. "They ranked last in the country in pass efficiency [before that game].
