FOOD guestlist.net Issue 57 / 2013 CREATIVE TOASTIE RECIPES Here's a great selection of quick and easy recipes for toasties. This is a very useful way of getting rid of your leftover ingredients and helps save. These recipes are perfect for people on the go, students and those just lazy to cook and want a quick and filling snack. 1. 2. 3. 1. 2. Preheat the griddle to medium heat. Build the sandwiches with 1 slice of white cheese on 4 pieces of bread and 1 slice of yellow cheese on the other 4 slices of bread. Close the sandwiches and butter both sides. Place on the griddle, cover with a metal bowl and let the sandwiches get a nice golden brown, 3 to 4 minutes. Flip the sandwiches, cover again with the metal bowl and cook until the cheese is melted and the sandwiches are golden brown for another 3 to 4 minutes. Using 4 descending sizes of star shaped cookie cutters, punch stars out of the sandwiches. Place on top of Roasted Tomato Bisque from large to small. Butter each slice of bread on one side only. On the unbuttered side, spread with the cranberry sauce, top with the sliced turkey, (2 slices per sandwich) and sliced Brie and season with sea salt and black pepper and place another piece of bread, unbuttered side, onto the filling. Heat a frying pan, to a medium heat, with tablespoon of rapeseed oil. Place the sandwich in the frying pan and fry on a gently heat for approximately, 2-3 minutes, each side, until golden brown. Tip: If you prefer the Brie to be melted more, you can place the sandwiches on a baking sheet in a pre-heated oven at 180°C/Gas 4 for a further 5 minutes. You can serve the sandwiches with home made potato wedges which you have cooked in the oven before melting the sandwich. Garnish with watercress.
