18 HOUSE / TECHNO guestlist.net Album of the month Medlar Issue 57 / 2013 Artist of the month Calvin Harris Sleep Many underground house music producers come and go in the international DJ scene these days. Digital music has definitely changed the pace of the business; these days being a recording artist is a risky challenge to take. As they say, by the time you give up, it is the time you get what you want, so to speak. Medlar's Sleep is a shout out to any copycats that want to sound like top producers. The LP reveals a great story influenced by jazzy, weird sample infused sounds and Chicago House, which gives it a soundscape that takes you into Medlar's world. TRack of the month Undoubtedly, these last few years have belonged to Calvin Harris in terms of success on the charts and dancefloors across the world. The Scottish DJ and record producer has had a string of hits including two Top 10 hits featuring fellow superstars Tinie Tempah and Ellie Goulding. "Under Control" follows suit with its rave synths and pumping drums blending into a cocktail which is certain to drive party goers into a fist-pumping frenzy. Swedish DJ Alesso lends his production talents to the track and the combination results in a release that will be on repeat in every DJ's decks. More @ guestlist.net OUR PLAYLIST Here's the house/techno on our playlist this month Max Graef Broken Keyboard EP (Jungle) 19 year old Max Greaf marked 2013 with 4 great EPs. Graef fixed his name into the underground disco-house scene with great tracks such as "Biting" aided by his production partner, Andy Hart, and his remix for Brandt Bauer Frick on K7! Records. His latest EP titled "Broken Keybord" ,on Detroit Swindle's Heist Recordings, is full of percussive goodness and well selected disco, funk and house music loops. The first track "Jungle" with the partnership of Andy Hart is the big deal, as the title says, within the first listen, you do feel in a jungle filled with tribalists and you're in the middle dancing to their ritual music.
