Wide Receiver
1. DeAngelo Yancey
6-2, 200, Fr.
21 rec., 421 yards, 1 TD*
Yancey made a great adjustment on a long toss from
Danny Etling that covered 45
yards, reaching almost over
his head to make the grab. It
was one of his four catches
for 83 yards. But he tweaked a hamstring in
practice Tuesday and missed Wednesday's
practice, putting his availability for Saturday in
question.
2. Shane Mikesky 87
6-4, 211, So.
Center
1. Robert Kugler 57
6-3, 284, So.
Kugler's already pretty good
and still has a couple seasons
to get bigger, stronger and
more experienced. The hope
is that those around him can
get to his level. He's not only got the physical
tools, but has the correct mental approach,
too, for the position.
2. Cody Davis 59
Tight End
1. Justin Sinz 84
6-4, 248, Jr.
28 rec., 208 yards, 3 TDs*
Sinz caught a touchdown pass
on a seven-yard out, getting
the Boilermakers on the board
for the first score. It was one
of his three catches that covered only 14 yards. Gabe Holmes returns next
season, giving Purdue two pretty good, and
experienced, TEs.
2. Patrick Bade 89
6-7, 255, Sr. (5) — OR —
Sterling Carter 81
6-2, 247, Sr. (5)
Right Guard
1. Jordan Roos 70
6-5, 320, R-Fr.
Roos took over as Purdue's
starter at right guard a little
before midseason, though
Smith got the start for him at
Penn State. There have been
growing pains for Roos, but
Purdue is hoping those pay off next season,
when the interior of the line will be much
more experienced.
6-5, 289, Sr. (5)
2. Trevor Foy 78
Quarterback
1. Danny Etling 5
Fullback
6-2, 218, Fr.
96-of-189 for 1,042 yards,
5 TDs, 6 int.*
Etling had one of his more
efficient passing days, hitting
on 63 percent of his passes for
223 yards and a touchdown. But he also threw
a pick and fumbled twice. At times, he needs
to be more decisive.
2. Austin Appleby 12
6-4, 229, R-Fr.
Left Tackle
1. Kevin Pamphile 64
6-5, 315, Sr. (5)
Pamphile had a pretty solid
game against PSU, a couple
times getting out in front of
passing plays to help spring
them for big yards. He did so
on Cameron Posey's 38-yard
wide receiver screen. Cermin's listed as the
backup but is practicing as much inside now
as out.
2. Cameron Cermin
6-2, 256, Jr.
37 rush, 113 yards*
4 rec., 24 yards*
Cottom got only three carries for 11 yards, as Purdue
abandoned the run after falling behind 14-0 before it had taken its fourth
offensive snap of the day. Freytag had one of
the Boilers' best rushes, a 14-yarder that came
on a fake punt.
2. Kurt Freytag 46
6-1, 240, Sr. (5)
6-3, 300, R-Fr.
King will likely to continue to
start — there's no reason to
turn away from a youth movement now — but Smith has
been the backup at both left
and right guard spots for the
last couple of weeks.
2. Devin Smith 71
6-6, 341, Sr.
6-5, 300, R-Fr.
Right Tackle
1. Justin Kitchens 51
6-4, 290, Sr. (5)
Kitchens seemed to have a bit
of a rough day at right tackle.
They weren't all on him, obviously, but Danny Etling was
sacked six times and lost two
fumbles. Prince, so that he could line up as an
eligible tight end, wore No. 90 Saturday.
2. J.J. Prince 73
Wide Receiver
1. Cameron Posey 18
6-1, 182, R-Fr.
18 rec., 211 yards, 1 TD*
Posey had an excellent outing,
and really has been a pleasant surprise this season. Few
could have predicted this kind
of production. His role will
increase the next couple games, as B.J. Knauf
is out with a high ankle sprain.
6-6, 288, R-Fr.
2. Danny Anthrop 33
Running Back
1. Akeem Hunt 1
Special Teams
6-0, 180, So.
6-7, 300, Sr. (5)
1. Brandon Cottom 25
Left Guard
1. Jason King 72
5-9, 184, Jr.
99 rushes, 347 yards*
36 rec., 343 yards, 2 TDs*
Hunt shows he can be effective
as a third-down receiving back;
he had three catches for 30
yards. But before the season, many wondered
whether he could run between the tackles.
Despite his 17-yard run againts Penn State,
which was his second longest of the season, it
remains a serious question.
