What does pH mean?
The "p" stands for potential and the "H" stands for Hydrogen.
Putting it simply it is a scale of 1-14. Ideally in pool water the pH should
be kept around 7.2 – 7.8 which is the middle range.
pH CHART
Acidic and corrosive
Alkaline and scaling
Neutral
7.5 – 8.2ppm is ideal for pools
I will explain the ranges later in this article.
pH is a scale of measure from 1 to 14 with 7 being neutral
Low pH is corrosive and can cause skin and eye irritation, corrosion
of metal parts and etching of plaster surfaces.
High pH is alkaline and can cause scaling and interfere with the
ability of sanitisers (chlorine/bleaches) to work efficiently.
