NCAA championships: cross country Individual Accolades Spark Strong Team Finishes Junior Mason Ferlic became the first All-American for the men's cross country team since 2004 when he broke the finish line in 22nd place at the NCAA Championships Nov. 23. About an hour later, Erin Finn became her program's first All-American since 2009 and only the third freshman to garner such distinction when she placed 30th overall in leading the women's team to a fourthplace finish. For the women's team, the effort marked its second consecutive top-five NCAA performance and the 11th top-10 finish in head coach Mike McGuire's 22 seasons. The result capped off a stellar run for the Maize and Blue, who also took second at the Big Ten Championships Nov. 3 and first at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Nov. 15. "We really had a good day and ended our season on a high note," McGuire said.
