Former Purdue Pete Jim Mylnarski donated his personal
hammer to be encased on the north wall in the counter area
of the restaurant. Owner Greg Ehresman is excited about
making the last home football game morning an annual
reunion for the former Petes.
Mitch Daniels' appearance caused quite a stir at the ceremony, but the Boilermaker administrator was right at home when
talking about all the traditions surrounding Purdue.

Salutes Boilermaker Pete
to you," Mylnarski said during his remarks to the
huddled and shivering crowd that included president
Mitch Daniels. "It is a unification of two great traditions and this is a place where everyone can enjoy it.
"Purdue Pete is somewhat magical. My hammer
saw a lot of places in its three years of service; it was
all over the country. It's been on 'Dancing with the
Stars,' HBO, Jimmy Fallon. It's been to bowl games.
Pete represents all things Purdue, from the scientists, the engineers, to factory workers, labors, everyone."
For Greg Ehresman, he sees it as an honor that
Mylnarski and others would pick Triple XXX as a
place for the hammer.
And he intends to make the last home game an
annual unofficial reunion for all Petes to come back
and sign the hammer.
"We want them all dating back to when it all started in 1956 to come back," Greg Ehresman said. "We
want 'em all." j
