n. k." - r, a Young Named Weld Racing President, CEO Kansas City, Mo.-based Weld Racing, a manufacturer of forged aluminum wheels, has appointed Norman Young as Betts Co. Supports Engineering Students Betts Co., a spring manufacturer based in Fresno, Calif. recently offered financial and technical support to Bulldog Racing, a team of engineering students at California State University determined to achieve racing excellence. "We are thrilled to support the efforts of these bright and innovative students," said Joe Devany, director of operations at Betts Co. "We enjoyed the chance to visit the team and learn more about their projects. Our engineering team was able to provide advice to Bulldog Racing on how to fine-tune the design of their race car." Bulldog Racing's projects include involvement with Formula SAE, a student design competition organized by SAE International (formerly Society of Automotive Engineers). Formula SAE promotes careers and excellence in engineering as it encompasses all aspects of the automotive industry including research, design, manufacturing, testing, developing, marketing, management and finance. In appreciation of their support, Bulldog Racing hosted Betts Co. team members, including Devany, Betts Co. engineers David Ellis, Mike Thibert and Patrick Reilly and marketing coordinator Eddie Cadena. president and CEO. "We are excited to announce Norman Young's appointment to Weld Racing," said Peter Lehman, Granite Creek managing partner and Weld Racing chairman. "Norman brings industry knowledge and a market-driven approach that will grow and expand upon Weld's strong foundation." Young comes to Weld Racing with 25 years of operations, sales, marketing and service experience in the automotive industry, according to a press release. Most recently, he served as CEO for ThyssenKrupp Crankshaft Co., and also held several senior leadership roles at Delphi and SPX. "I am very pleased to be joining an outstanding company such as Weld Racing," Young said. "Their industry leadership in technology, design and brand positions Weld for tremendous growth over the next few years.
