Each student on the winning team will receive a $10,000 scholarship to continue their automotive careers at the University of Northern Ohio, Ohio Technical College or School of Automotive Machinists. Team Moroso was composed of Callie Hunter, Ryan Campbell, Alexander Versteeg, Connor Hixenbaugh, Connor Carrizales and Nicholas Brown, according to the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow. Jim LaFevers served as the team's instructor. The finals were held in December at the Performance Racing Industry trade show in Indianapolis. "Combining education, teamwork, competition, travel and interaction with other students from outside of their own area, exposure to manufacturers are life lessons that these students will never forget," Schroeder said. "How many of these students would not have gone down this educational path or been interested in automotive high performance if it was not for the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow?" The three colleges provided more than $2 million in scholarship funds to participants of the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow program, according to Bingham. Each student in the top 23 teams will receive at least $5,000 in scholarships. The Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge was the brainchild of Jim Bingham, Rodney Bingham's father and president/CEO of Joliet, Ill.-based Winner's Circle Speed and Custom. The small competition started in 2008 with 35 students from five participating schools in the Chicago area. In 2013, 665 students grouped into 95 teams participated in the program, according to the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow. The competition featured nine events in 2013, but plans to add more for the 2014 season, which will commence Feb. 22 at the Race & Performance Expo in St. Charles, Ill. 928-854-6706 www.KoulTools.com SURSEAT The new lapping tool for hard tubing flares.
