1 2 After a thorough cleaning of all the areas that will have graphics, I begin to tape out the faux chrome using FBS fine line tape. I follow the raised body line down the sides of the car. The next step is to make sure that all the tape is straight. I also make sure the edges are down using a squeegee with some Velcro (soft side) applied to its side. 3 Masking tape and body shop-grade masking paper are used to protect the rest of the car. I have also taped inside the door jambs to prevent overspray. 5 You can see how it looks so far… take your time. 4 I mix 1-Shot silver with a small amount of white to give it some extra body. I DO NOT reduce this mix. I apply the paint using a #10 brown quill, making sure there are no drips or runs, etc. 6 Both sides are complete. Now I wait about 15 minutes to airbrush the chrome effects. February 2014 PHBFEB_52-77.indd 65 n Performance & Hotrod Business n 65 1/2/14 4:35 PM
