Doug Nussmeier Gets The Call
To Ramp Up U-M's Offense
B

rady Hoke knows what he
wants. He envisions a bruising yet versatile offense,
with punishing offensive
linemen clearing the way for a stable
of tough and talented tailbacks.
Hoke sees a strong-armed quarterback faking runs that must be
respected, first freezing linebackers and then carving up secondaries through perfect play action. He
envisions tight ends that alternately
pound away up front or release
downfield for timely, chains-moving receptions.
Seeing it in his mind and getting there on the field haven't
precisely aligned in Hoke's
three years back in Ann Arbor. But he knows what it
looks like … and it looks a
lot like Alabama of the past
few years.
Nussmeier has been an offensive coordinator for the last six seasons, with stops
at Alabama, Washington and Fresno State.
