Michigan's Best The Wolverines' Top 25 Players For The 2013 Season M By John Borton ichigan's football season didn't exactly match expectations or hopes harbored in the heat of August. Nor did the postseason player rankings perfectly align with those projected heading into the season. The post-bowl assessment by The Wolverine of individual performances includes some familiar names floating to the top. It also reflects a number of bumps in the road along the way, as well as new players making breakthroughs into prominence. The staff of the magazine produced rankings of U-M performers, which were then combined to come up with the list of Michigan's top players in 2013. The complete list is on the facing page, and we've also included some short feature profiles, starting with the player at the top. No. 1 Jeremy Gallon, 5th-Sr., WR The words "pound for pound" or "given his size" always seemed to accompany assessments of the import from Apopka, Fla. In the wake of his record-setting fifth-year senior season, the memories of Jeremy Gallon will simply center on his production. Gallon slashed and leaped his way to 1,373 receiving yards in his last chance in a winged helmet, surpassing the former Michigan record of 1,330 yards Braylon Edwards put up during the 2004 campaign. Gallon snagged 89 passes for the season, nine of them touchdown catches. With nine grabs in the bowl game, the fifth-year senior wound up third on Michigan's all-time receptions list with 173, behind only Edwards (252) and Marquise Walker (176). With his first catch against Kansas State, Gallon moved his streak of consecutive games with a catch to 39, setting another Michigan record. Beyond the numbers, Gallon drew notice as someone who came to play every day, in all aspects of wide receiver combat.
