GUESTLIST RECOMMENDS
ADI ULMANSKY
Inaugural mixtape, Cut 4 Me, works not
only as further proof that modern RnB
is carrying the torch of progression, but
also as a tasting menu for Kelela's label
– 'Fade to Mind'.
The lovingly curated, preciously
crafted production showcases
both the keen ears of her label
mates and also Kelela's incred-
ible range and ear for melody.
A powerful new presence in
RnB and one with a huge 2014
in store.
ARTIST OF THE MONTH
YO GOTTI
The Tel Aviv based producer, singer, femcee stands out for her clear individuality, which was initially shown in her first successful mix-tape 'Shit Just Got Real'
released in April 2013.
While there are undoubtedly talents in Israel, Adi steps out as the
first that has publications like NME, Mixmag, and The Guardian
salivating over that oh so fresh sound.
Her second mix-tape the awesome 'Hurricane Girl', which came
out in August 2013 builds on her first project can be found on
her Soundcloud page: http://soundcloud.com/adiulmansky/adi-
The Memphis-born rapper receives
Artist of the Month as his first major
label backed album 'I Am', is scheduled
for release on November 19th.
Yo Gotti perhaps isn't the
household name that some
of his peers and frequent
collaborators such as 2 Chainz,
Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy and T.I
are, but he has kept his name
and music relevant in music
circles with a relentless drive and
determined business mind. For
years he has released mixtapes
independently through his label
Cocaine Muzik Group, selling
out CD copies in many states
of Southern America where his
name holds tremendous weight
as a man for and of the people.
His
hustle
and
exposure
through collaborations with
heavyweights Busta Rhymes,
Nicki Minaj, Akon, Nelly and
Sean Kingston, has catapulted
him to a level of stardom within
the hip hop scene. The 'King of
the City' [of Memphis] demands
a
substantial
amount
for
appearances and performances,
thus
funding
this
career
independently, until legendary
music executive LA Reid, offered
him and his label a distribution
deal through Epic Records.
It just goes to show that
persistence
and
a
good
entrepreneurial mind can get
you far in this faltering music
industry. Congratulations to the
King.
ulmansky-hurricane-girl-ep. To that effect Adi comes with a box
fresh video for a track called 'Work It' off the mix-tape.
It's the perfect hors d'oeuvre to the main meal of the latest project, as the esoteric animated visuals are juxtaposed with reality to
create something visually fresh, as the heavy banging bass 'Work
It' accosts your inner ear - it's a club banger!
