ne Office board working his magic in the office, kitchen, and secondfloor library. He added a few surprises, which he only shared with Ablow upon completion. There are secret panels in the office that, when gently pressed, reveal tiny compartments. Ablow's office and library fireplaces are bordered in a bluestone veneer, and the room has the same beadboard accents seen in the other rooms. Laine designed the high ceiling in the office to include angle iron braces like those seen in bridge construction. To visually break up all the wood, he painted some of the braces what he calls "Tobin Bridge" green. For Ablow, the soaring ceiling inspires freedom of thought. And, having once lived in Chelsea, the design element that recalls the Tobin reminds Ablow of his roots. "Everything is so refined that I felt we should have a counterpoint," Laine notes. "Architecture and rooms take on a feeling that translates to you," Ablow adds. "It gives me comfort, and it gives my n patients comfort." lainejonesdesign.com ● Keith Ablow Bio Keith Ablow was born and raised in Marblehead and lives with his family on the North Shore.
