PREP PROFILES Michigan head coach Brady Hoke brought offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier in from Alabama to run the offense and identify talent. While he hasn't yet gotten a crack at the former, he hasn't wasted any time picking out recruits he thinks can help the program. One, Princeton, N.C., running back Johnny Frasier, already holds offers from Duke, North Carolina, North Carolina State and Penn State. Nuss- meier informed him Michigan was on board, too. "I was shocked to get the offer," Frasier said. "It was out of the blue. That was really some of my first con- tact with them, and I don't have any connections up there. Coach Nuss- meier said he wanted to go back to old-time Michigan, and he thought I'd be a great fit for that style of play." In truth, he'd probably excel in any offense. Frasier put up video game numbers in his junior year, racking up 3,048 yards and 45 touchdowns on the ground in just 13 games (234.5 yards per contest). He also added 598 yards and five touchdowns as a receiver. On the track, he earned North Carolina Class 1A runner-up honors in the 100-meter dash with a 10.74-second time. Frasier is more concerned with the indoor spring track season than his recruitment, but he's still paying at- tention to the schools on his list. He's developed a rapport with the North Carolina coaches, but he's anxious to learn more about Michigan. "I'd definitely like to visit up there," he said. "Right now, I'm just not sure when. I had a great year, and I put up some big numbers, but to have an even better senior year, I want to focus on enjoying it more." All three in-state schools have received visits, and he'll likely see more this spring and summer. "He has good heart and determi- nation," Princeton head coach Der- rick Minor said. "He is going to go up against the best in the state, and he's not going to back down. "… He is the most humble kid I've met with the most talent that I've ever coached. That is what makes him special … And he's only going to get bigger, stronger and faster." And his recruitment is only go- ing to pick up. Ohio State, Georgia and Florida State have offered, while more are likely to follow. — Chris Balas East Coast Speedster Wants To Visit Michigan ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ Princeton High School Princeton, N.C.
