PREP PROFILES A who's-who of the country's top programs have issued offers to Tampa (Fla.) Plant junior offensive lineman Jake Fruhmorgen. Auburn, Florida State, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Wisconsin are among the 29 schools already on the table for the 6-5, 265-pounder. It's clear that he'll be able to pick whichever school he wants come National Signing Day 2015. Until recently, however, Michigan was one school that was missing from the offer list. Fruhmorgen had men- tioned the Maize and Blue among his programs of interest, and he was excited when that offer finally came through. "Jake was excited about the offer, because he had talked to the coach a couple weeks before," said his father, John. "They'd said they were going to recruit him real hard at the time, and next thing you know he got an offer. It was all good." One school that has joined the sweepstakes for Fruhmorgen's sig- nature is the University of Alabama. That's especially intriguing, given that John Fruhmorgen played for the Crimson Tide in the 1980s. Even though Nick Saban and Co. have come calling, Fruhmorgen's not a lock for the Crimson Tide. "Everybody thinks he's going to Alabama because I went there, but that's not quite the case," the elder Fruhmorgen said. "He's never even been to an Alabama game. We live an hour and a half from Florida, and he's been to a few games there. He hasn't been to that many college games, so it's wide open as we speak." Michigan is another school that Fruhmorgen has never been to, but the family is looking to change that status as soon as possible. Ann Arbor is a definite stop on the visit trail this offseason. "There are certain schools I think that it would do yourself an injustice not go see, with Michigan being one of them," John explained. "I think you need to see it with the tradition, the tradition of good offensive linemen throughout the years." Fruhmorgen was named first-team 8A (largest schools) all-state as a ju- nior, one of just eight non-seniors on the list, and has the size and athleti- cism to excel at any position on the offensive line. It's easy to see why col- leges like his potential. Michigan's shot at landing him could come down to a spring visit, though Georgia and Ole Miss are also on the schedule. — Tim Sullivan Sunshine State Offensive Lineman Wants To Take A Look At U-M ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ Plant High School Tampa, Fla.
