  INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS Redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Erik Magnuson and red- shirt junior offensive lineman Chris Bryant will be among the missing this spring, both after undergoing offseason shoulder surgery. Meanwhile, junior defensive lineman Ondre Pipkins and fifth- year senior offensive lineman Joey Burzynski are also being held out of spring while rehabilitating knee injuries. Redshirt sophomore wideout Amara Darboh will be limited in spring, while still rehabbing a foot injury. Redshirt sophomore run- ning back Drake Johnson will also not be at full-go, given his ongoing healing process from a knee injury. Head coach Brady Hoke noted that some will not be able to take any contact, and others will not be able to fully participate in drill work. Senior punter Will Hagerup, suspended this past season, will return in spring ball, Hoke con- firmed. Meanwhile, fifth-year se- nior quarterback Devin Gardner, who missed the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl with an extreme case of turf toe, should be able to participate in the spring. "Devin will practice," Hoke said. "He'll be limited a little bit, until that thing is 100 percent. He's got the boot off, and he's making prog- ress, and feeling good about it." Hoke also declared the quarter- back competition open, like at all other positions, after a disappoint- ing 7-6 season.
