SXSWedu 2014 9 Getting Around SXSWedu merch_sxswedu2014.pdf 1 2/17/14 5:39 PM While the majority of SXSWedu hotels are in reasonable walking distance to our primary programming venues, the Austin Convention Center and the Hilton Austin Downtown, listed below are a few alternative ways to maneuver your way around downtown Austin during SXSWedu. Take a Taxi Cab Taxis generally circulate at or around all SXSWedu hotels during the event. The closest taxi queue zones can be found in front of the Hilton on Neches Street and in front of the Courtyard Marriot on 4th street. Hailing or calling a cab to pick you up from a specific location is always an option. Listed below are widely used downtown cab companies and numbers to call: Austin Cab Company: (512) 478-2222 | Lone Star Cab: (512) 836-4900 | Yellow Cab: (512) 452-9999 Flag down a Pedicab Pedicab cyclists can make a quick trip from point A to point B turn into a fun and leisurely adventure! If you see a pedicab with empty seating, feel free to flag them down! Keep in mind that pedicabs accept cash tips. If you're traveling much further than a mile, another mode of transportation is probably best. Ride the MetroBus Austin's regional Public Transportation system, Capital Metro offers a variety of online tools to make traveling by bus easy and fun. Visit their website (www.capmetro.org) and enter your starting location and ending destination into their Trip Planner (www.capmetro.org/planner) for the fastest route. Additionally, bus riders can call (512) 474-1200 for personal assistance. Pay to Park The Austin Convention Center has two parking garages: the 2nd Street Garage (enter from Brazos or San Jacinto Street) and the 5th Street Garage (enter from 5th Street, between Red River and Sabine Street). B-cycle Your Way Around Austin B-cycle is a bike sharing service with 24/7 on- demand rental stations throughout the city.
