Currently in its pilot stage, this tool will offer Texas educators and students easier access to Project Share while improving the administration and local management of account provisioning. This technology allows users to access applications with one single, se- cure login while giving districts the ability to control and customize the environment for their teachers and students. Hilton Room 410 | Workshop Transform a traditional classroom into an engaging classroom, connecting learners and involving them in exciting discussions through Edmodo. In this BYOD environ- ment, teachers can utilize systems like Edmodo to transform antiquated lessons. Par- ticipants will create small groups, forums, notes, submit assignments and more, with smart phones, tablets, and other devices using apps like Evernote to promote online discussions allowing for the creation and sharing of projects through BlendSpace. Using our recent experience from the fall 2013 edX class, TAKE YOUR MEDICINE, the panel focuses primarily on how to engage people to make a MOOC not just massively online, but massively successful. With an array of anecdotal and data-driven feedback, we will discuss how the actual student consump- tion experience met the desired product objectives. Less often discussed are ways that MOOCs provide new motiva- tions to improve learning experiences. This panel, comprised of three UT Austin fac- ulty members leading MOOCs this year, will dive into the known and potential impact of these courses sharing their experiences of why, how and what students learn. What if class could be separated from the classroom completely? "Blurred Lines: seamless competency across grades" will tackle what it could look like when students can drive core learning through any blend of online, DIY, and real world experiences, disrupting the factory model of education so that core course learning is no longer constrained by grades or school space. Russell Armstrong, mSchool #mschool 9:40 AM - 9:55 AM COGNITIVE PROCESS & DESIGN THINKING Teaching Typography Through Sound Hilton Salon C | Future15: Teaching Graphic design is primarily a visual field, but its students are not always visual learn- ers. Stephanie will discuss methods of mapping formal typographical properties to sound to teach typographical principles. Through an interactive teaching platform, letterforms across typefaces can be experienced visually and aurally. Students can then explore the unique sounds of letterforms, create complex compositions, and learn foundational visual principals, such as letter-spacing, by "hearing" them.
