How does he or she succeed? Led by respected industry leaders and academics in their areas of expertise, the CAO Program emphasizes day-to-day management. It is the industry's only professional credential. The intensive two-day program includes lectures, panel discussions, audience participation, written materials and an exam. Besides a new title and credential, participants acquire practical knowledge and essential skills. For facility owners, the Program also offers ways to improve the quality of existing staff, keep up with industry trends, and make better hiring decisions. FACILITY BUS TOUR Wednesday, June 18 The Facility Bus Tour is a valuable excursion for many reasons. First of all, you get a comprehensive view–from the parking lot, to the fields, to the concession stand, to the offices–of several facilities. Plus, not only do you get to speak with operators of these facilities, there's great networking and sharing happening on the bus. The Facility Bus Tour is always a sell-out, so make plans early to "get on the bus!" STATE OF THE INDUSTRY REPORT Thursday, June 19 This year, Jason Clement will present the State of the Industry Report. As Chief Operating and Financial Officer of USIndoor consulting member, The Sports Facility Advisory, Jason possesses a unique blend of experience. He oversees all aspects of SFA's organizational development, strategic execution, business development, and delivery of internal and client initiatives to the tune of $3 billion in planned and operating sports, recreation, entertainment, and special event businesses throughout North America, the Middle East and Asia. he State of the Industry report will provide an up-to-date overview of the indoor sports market, including credit and banking changes, the indoor sports customer, sport trends, competition, management and administrative practices, and technology. U nlike a horse race, the business of indoor sports can have several winners. Although few of us hope for a competitor to open next door, the industry does thrive a bit more when more of us succeed. The benefits can be seen as outside attention and dollars flow to the industry from goods and services providers, advertisers and sponsors, investors, quality job applicants and enthusiastic patrons. When a customer has a positive experience at an indoor sports facility–when a father enjoys a beer as he watches his son, when a mother happily participates in her toddler's first soccer class, or when teenage girls don't leave shrieking from your bathroom–we all win. Customers tell their friends– even those who live faraway–about what a great time they had and encourage them to participate in activities at their local indoor sports arena. Therefore, when the experience is positive, the outlook is positive. Unfortunately, social scientists will tell you that a negative experience can be disproportionally damaging. If one horse were to fall on the track, many other horses would certainly be affected. For these reasons, among others, our annual industry meeting, now in its 14 th year(!), is surely an event to be celebrated and attended. Here, we can share our ideas, talk about what's working and what's not, discover trends and innovations, and share experiences, hoping others can learn from us and we from them. No matter how many leagues you run, birthday parties you host, fields you rent, sponsorships you sell, there is always room to do better, open your mind, learn something, try something new. Open the gate.
