When you buy sustainable seafood, it means you're purchasing fish or shellfish that has been raised, caught or harvested in a way that protects our waterways and ecosystems. It means that fish populations haven't been over-harvested, so they can maintain or even increase their numbers as time goes on, and they've been caught in a way that is cruelty-free and non-harmful to the environment. It means that farm-raised seafood has been raised responsibly and humanely. And it means that your seafood is free from pollutants or toxins such as mercury or PCBs. Right now, you'll find a dozen different sustainable seafood choices in our stores, including: Fresh haddock Fresh pollock Sockeye salmon Coho salmon Canadian frozen flounder Canadian fresh haddock Fresh cod Fresh sea scallops Northern shrimp King salmon Pacific frozen cod Icelandic fresh haddock IN ADDITION TO WORKING WITH THE MSC AND THE GMRI, WE ALSO WORK WITH INDEPENDENT FISHERIES AND NUMEROUS LOCAL SUPPLIERS.
