However, on this occasion I found myself not wanting to clock check once, The Wolf of Wall Street really is a fi lm to grab your attention and not just because it stars Leonardo Dicaprio. The real life story fol- lows stoke broker Jordan Belfort's rise to wealthy stoke broker then corresponding fall back to the bottom. It's hard to believe some of the events actually happened and like a lot of based on real event Hollywood fi lms, it didn't. However, a large majority of the events were true, the most dis- turbing of which were the scenes where he insist- ed the captain drive his yacht through a storm, along with him striking his wife and driving his car into a garage with his 3 year old daughter in- side. The fi lm itself is a fascinating portrayal of what went on at Stratton Oakmont including the debauchery, drugs and illegality of the business. There's even a small cameo from Jordan Belfort right at the end where he introduces the Jordan Belfort character for the motivational speech.
