'Ima Dog', will likely appear on 2 Chainz' upcoming album B.O.A.T.S III, the trilogy based on a T.R.U. Story released in 2012 and the follow up B.O.A.T.S II: Me Time a year later. 2 Chainz has recently joined forces with Adidas and is scheduled to release his '2 Good to be T.R.U.' shoe at an Adidas store in New Orleans on February 15th. Stay tuned for the release date of B.O.A.T.S III. ALBUM OF THE MONTH HE'S A DOG The artist that rose to commercial success with award winning singles such as 'No Lie' and 'Mercy' is back! Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz is back with a new single 'Ima Dog'. ARTIST OF THE MONTH MIKE HOUGH East London born and bred artist Mike Hough has slowly been creeping up the ranks of the music industry since 2009. He auditioned for the X Factor back in 09 where he was shut down by Simon Cowell who stated that he doesn't think that Mike will "ever be good enough". HIPHOP LEGENDS KANYE WEST As tickets went on sale for this years wireless festival & with "The College Dropout" turning ten its only right that our legend this month is the hugely tal- ented Kanye West. He will be headlining the Friday at this years Wireless festival in Finsbury Park, London. This leads me to think that we could be getting a leg of Mr West's 'Yeezus' tour in England. Kanye has been touring since October 2013 but has not reached the UK yet, nor announced that he intends to! New Slaves sets the tone for the overall sound of "Yeezus", Kanye's sixth studio album. Although the "Yeezus" album has a real different sound to 10 year old "The College Dropout". It's fresh, sharp and reflects Kanye's deep, inquisi- tive soul. He is a perfectionist in everything he does, always challenging himself, and "Ye- ezus" his latest project main- tains the reign. If we look back through the history of Kanye West, in music and more we can see why we would use the word 'Legend' in association with this man. East London born and bred artist Mike Hough has slowly been creeping up the ranks of the music industry since 2009. He au- ditioned for the X Factor back in 09 where he was shut down by Simon Cowell who stated that he doesn't think that Mike will "ever be good enough." According to the Barking and Dagenham post, Hough said that "After X Factor I quit my bank job and was surviving on £10 a month to pursue a music career. Things have got a lot better since then!". He began to get his name out there by singing covers of known songs in the comfort of his own home and uploading them on YouTube. Combined, he has received over 5 million views which lead him to being nominated for 'Best UK RnB/Soul act within the same category as the likes of Adele in 2011. One of his first songs was played on BBC1 Extra and he managed to do this without any PR tools; no TV appearances, no support- ing budget and not even a debut album or single! To add to the strength of his covert strategies he has supported RnB singer Brandy on tour as well as ex X factor contestants JLS! How do you like Hough now Simon?! Now, after the many years of hard work he has finally released his first single 'Better' this year which is available for download now. It is a soft, mid - tempo, heart felt song where he pays tribute to a failed relationship which has broken for the better. At the end he shows how truly grateful he is for his release and thanks his fans for being on the journey with him before his success. The track has also been premiered on VEVO this week and his fans have been tweeting him screenshots of their views of it. One of his 37,000 followers tweeted him hashtagging "Dreams do come true" which he retweeted; what artist do you know that actually replies to their fans on a regular basis?! He has also recently performed a live lounge for his supporters BBC1 Extra with Kid Ink where he sings originally what Chris Brown does. Hats off to him, he is finally receiving the recognition he de- serves. Watch this space! 22 Issue 60 / 2014 HIPHOP / RNB guestlist.net More @ guestlist.net/rnb-hiphop
