ARTIST OF THE MONTH LAURA MVULA Here at Guestlist we love Laura Mvula and we're not the only ones. 7 31 Issue 60 / 2014 INDIE / ROCK guestlist.net OUR PLAYLIST Fink Sort of Revolution Lana del Rey Born to Die Guillemots Red Say Anything ...Is a Real Boy Here's the Indie on our playlist this month: ALBUM OF THE MONTH FAKE CLUB - F**KABLE TRACK OF THE MONTH FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE The first full album of the band contains some tracks that had been released already, such as "Over and Over" and "Bullet Brain", plus many others, for a total of ten intense tracks. The most catchy are probably "Midnight at Koko" and "Generation". They proclaim themselves as "sick of the values of our generation" and ready to promote a different model to "celebrity worship, glorified karaoke contests and 'flawless' faces on the cover of every magazine". But saying theirs is a rebellious sound would mean thinking within stereotypes and would not even honor their terrific work. Fake Club are way more than just a bunch of folkloristic punks. They are talented, brilliant and engaging. I think this is much more of a compliment than saying they are rebel. If you are rebel you might look cool, but to make good music you need talent and cleverness, and these girls make really good music. Aicha, Chloe, Carmen, Rosie and Vicky. These are the names of the five explosive girls forming Fake Club's line- up. Their album is called "F**Kable" and is coming out on March 24th 2014. Although this song made the list because of its fast- paced beat and note-worthy lyrics; pretty much the entirety of Florence's album 'Lungs' could be on here for its ability to convey a little magic in every song, making it perfect listening for late February evenings . 'Hardest of Hearts' On top of being nominated for two Brit Award Mvula's won best female and best R&B/Soul artist. With just one album, Sing to the Moon, and one EP, She, under her belt this album has already gained a loyal following and critical respect. Jump on the band- wagon before it turns to a rocket ship and breaks through the at- mosphere, because Laura Mvula is far out. More @ guestlist.net/indie
