basketball to make a last-ditch run to the
postseason.
"When we don't take care of the bas-
ketball and you don't take good shots
and you have breakdowns on the defen-
sive end, that's not a good recipe for suc-
cess. The struggling part
for me as a coach is we had
stretches where we would
take care of the bas-
ketball, we would take
good shots, we would
be able to stick with a
game plan and as soon
as you felt good about
it, we would revert back
to where you wouldn't
know an identity of your
team," Painter said.
Sophomore Ra-
pheal Davis, one of two
players Painter identi-
fied as ready to play
Sunday, said he thinks
the key for Purdue to
win some games in the
tournament is "people
just have to buy in."
"Coach Painter is
a great coach," he said.
"(Our problem) is not
coaching. … We're kind
of young right now and
people aren't used to
coaching and won't ac-
cept coaching. It's really
not an excuse. You know
Coach Painter is a good coach, and he's
just trying to help you. So if everybody
opens up to it this week and has a good
week of practice, (it could) carry into the
Big Ten Tournament."
